Last year while fishing my favourite waters in Vättlefjäll outside Gothenburg I met a flyfisherman from Kungälv. The past 5-6 years I have always been out camping at the lake in may when the Green drakes are hatching. The man from Kungälv came up to me and said in Gotheburg dialect:

-"It's darn good seeing that red tent again! Now you know that the seasson has started for real!"
He had seen me there severaly years in a row and had started to regard it as the one true sign that the flyfishing seasson has started.

Now it's 2007 and this past weekend I was there camping again. Finally it's the month of may: Mayfly season!

The weather was mixed. Cloudy for startes but turned more and more sunny towards the end of the weekend. The winds were still cold and switched direction during the days. It was 13 degrees in the water and there were hatching of Mayflies, stoneflies and a few caddis aswell. I did also see the first green drakes of the season.

It was however not much activity on the fish in the lake. I did get lucky and landed a trout on a dry fly, 40 cm long and weight 0.65 kg. It was very good to be back again!
