My name is Edwin, I am from the netherlands, I run the website / webshop Dyckers, Pure Flyfishing - www.dyckers.com and totally mad about flyfishing, especially the big ones...wild of course.

Because there is not many wild trout/salmon, etc. in our small country (the only interesting place is lake ovm - you can find some video's from us at youtube if you search for lake ovm and trout or Dyckers and flyfishing) we allready flyfish for many years on other species, such as pike, carp, asp, seabass, etc. Next to flyfishing for these beautiful and strong fish I also love to go to tropical destinations trying to catch bone, tarpons, jacks, etc. But most of the time I flyfish in lakes, or big rivers such as the IJssel searching for pike or carp (yes I love to see backing ) .

I have experience of flyfishing for pike for more than 15 years now.

In the Netherlands most of the time we flyfish searching for pike at rivers, lakes, and so called "polders". (A polder is a low-lying tract of land enclosed by embankments known as dikes, that forms an artificial hydrological entity, meaning it has no connection with outside water other than through manually-operated devices - source wiki). 75% of the time we flyfish with floating lines and flies around 20cm made from
synthetics. The other 25% we flyfish with sinking lines at the lakes, searching the real big mamas!

The last years I only flyfish with synthetic flies made by EP fibers from Enrico Puglisi. Simply because they are light, very strong (you can catch many pikes, without changing fly because it is totally gone by those 700teeth) and have such a beautiful action under water. You can fish them fast, slow, wiggle or just static. (we definitely prefer a fly which "stay on the place" the moment pikes often attack when you stop stripping) I use always the same type of flies, but change my lines from floating into sinking depending of the water. Sometimes I use the bellyboat on a (big) lakes or rivers, where we fish on the dropoffs at a dept of 7 - 10 meter.

The pikefishing (no not only the pikeflyfishing but all kind of fishing) has improved a lot the last 5 years in the Netherlands and every day people catch 1 meterplus pikes... Each day I learn from these fishers which mostly use big natural fish like perch or mackerels and fish at the bottom where the big ones lay waiting for the prey. Those are the ones we try to catch, difficult, it takes much time but when I say to you that last week I had one on...%^&%% this one was too clever (she was definitely in the range of 110 - 120cm and that would be a record for me!!) so I missed her, there will be one day.....
